Physiotherapy

Improving mobility, relieving pain and enhancing your pet's quality of life

Sadie specialises in treating musculoskeletal disorders in small animals. This includes helping to alleviate discomfort for animals living with chronic conditions such as osteoarthritis, helping neurologically impaired animals regain mobility, and optimising recovery from surgery. As in human medicine, patients that follow a specific physiotherapy programme following orthopaedic surgery, have faster recovery times, optimised healing, and fewer setbacks than those who do not.

Using a plethora of techniques including:

  • Soft Tissue Massage
  • Myofascial release
  • Joint manipulations
  • Stretches
  • Electrotherapies (e.g. LASER, TENS, NMES, ultrasound)
  • Exercise prescription

Sadie helps to improve mobility, relieve pain and enhance the quality of life for animals living with acute and chronic musculoskeletal disorders. Sadie also spends time with owners helping them to better understand their pet’s condition, and the best way to adapt their home environment and exercise routine to ensure they are comfortable and happy.

Physiotherapy treatment for animals is not limited to older pets or those recovering from surgery. Younger animals with a diagnosis such as hip/elbow dysplasia can benefit from physiotherapy treatment and exercise advice to prolong their life and minimise symptoms of these conditions such as lameness and muscle loss. Similarly, physiotherapy can be very beneficial for growing puppies and kittens to ensure their exercise is appropriate for their breed and life-stage, and to reduce the impact of exercise-related joint problems.
