Arthritis awareness month - have you ever wondered what your dog's knee looks like after a cruciate repair surgery? Rupturing the cruciate ligament in their knee is quite common in dogs. Is your best friend starting to slow down on walks? Many of our canine friends suffer from osteoarthritis as they get older. The good news is there are many things we can do to help. This beautiful girl was handed in to us late last week. She has no microchip or collar with an estimated age of 4-5 years. Unfortunately we haven't been able to get any further details about where she was found but the rescuers had been taking care of her for 2 weeks so she likely has been missing for some time longer than that. If you have any information please contact us at our Abingdon branch 01235 524777.

Meet Diesel - he came in as an emergency a couple of weeks ago after an unfortunate accident left him with some very serious injuries to a very sensitive part of his anatomy (we will keep it at that as we don't want to embarass the poor fella). As you can see he has now made a full recovery and is back enjoying all of his favourite things. Thank you to Diesel's mum for the update - it really brightened our day to see him back to his playful self!

We love Easter and we love rabbits but please remember that rabbits are there to be loved all year round! They are very cute and sweet but, like all pets, need regular care and commitment. Please help us spread this important message!
Another lovely display raising awareness of potential dangers at Easter. Please remember Hot cross buns and Chocolate eggs are NOT for dogs!!
But please remember to keep all those yummy treats out of our pets reach, as many of them are poisonous!! Every year we treat several dogs for chocolate and raisin poisoning. It's all too easy at this time of the year for our pets to find that unattended Easter egg, or hot cross buns left in easy reach. If you suspect that your dog has eaten any quantity of chocolate or raisins, or any other toxic substance that you see on this months display board, then please call Abivale vets immediately to seek advice and get treatment.
Every year we treat dogs for chocolate and raisin poisoning. It's all too easy at this time of the year to find them chomping away at that shiny looking easter egg or to snatch that sneaky hot cross bun from off the counter when your back is turned! If despite your best efforts you even suspect that your dog has eaten any quantity of chocolate or raisins (accidents happen!) then please call asap to get advice and seek treatment.
